Banff is one of the natural wonders of the West, from high snow covered peaks to roaring rapids and stunning canyons Banff has something different to offer everyone. 3) Sunshine Village is located about 15 minutes west of Banff. The resort has a base elevation of 5,446ft and a summit elevation of 8,957ft. With an average of 30ft of snow a year its almost double that of Lake Louis. 107 ski runs cover 8,957 acres of terrain. The runs are accessible by 12 lifts: 5 high speed quad chairs, 2 fixed grip quad chairs, one triple, one double chair, 2 magic carpets, and one Gondola. The resort can support 20,000 skiers an hour.

4) Mount Norquay is the smallest of the three resorts. Its base elevation is 5,348 ft and has a summit elevation of 6,998ft. It has 33 runs which cover.3 sq miles of terrain. Cologne Germany (Köln) is the oldest so the first German city. When it became city in 50 A.D., it bore the name Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium (CCAA) because of the Roman Empress Agrippina.

Cologne is catholic and had a bishop as early as 313. In 785, it became the seat of an archbishop. The Archbishop of Cologne was one of the seven Electors of the Holy Roman Empire. He ruled a large area as a secular lord in the Middle Ages, but in 1288, he was defeated by the Cologne citizens and forced to move to Bonn.

Cologne Germany was a member of the Hanseatic League. It became a free city officially by 1475, but lost its free status and regained its archbishopric during the French period. In 1815, at the Congress of Vienna, it became part of the Prussian kingdom.

During the 19th and 20th century, Cologne incorporated numerous surrounding towns, so that it had a population of 600,000 inhabitants by the time of World War 1.

In World War 2, Cologne Germany was repeatedly bombed. The Cologne Cathedral received 14 hits by aerial bombs, but luckily didn't collapse. So since 1975, the population of Cologne Germany always lays around 1 million inhabitants.

So much the Rhine of the city brought prosperity and quality of life, so feared is its flood. The worst flood ever registered occurred in February 1784. After an extremely long and cold winter the temperature jumped deep down. The Rhine river had frozen over and the thaw as well as the breaking open ice provided firmly for a record water level of 13,55 m. That was ten meters above the normal level!

The tides, on which heavy ice floes floated, devastated far parts of the development of the banks and all ships. 65 people died. The district Mülheim on the right Rhine side was completely destroyed.

In more recent time, a flood protection concept plans the establishment of sheet pile walls. That should protect old town up to a level of 10 meters against inundations. Still, old town consists of a magnet for floods.

Despite of this, Cologne is well-known as the Fun City of all German cities. You go into a tavern and do not know anybody, and you go out with a lot of friends. It's very easy to come in contact with Cologne people. In February, during Cologne Carnival, the whole Rhine land celebrates for at least six days -- with tons of sweets and kisses.

Vienna is the capital and largest city of Austria. There is a vast range of historical landmarks with classic architecture to admire and these five attractions should be considered when visiting Vienna:

1. Hofburg Palace is located in the historic centre of Vienna and is the former imperial palace of the Habsburg rulers at Innsbruck. The exact date of the construction of Hofburg Palace is unclear, nevertheless, the earliest references date back to the 13th century.

Hofburg palace is comprised of many elements including six museums, a chapel housing twelve bronze statues of Austrian nobles, a famous winter riding school, a national library, a greenhouse which has a vast selection of well known fruit and plant species and there is also a large park where you can unwind The grounds of the palace are beautiful and you need to allow adequate time if you wish to view the attractions. Currently, Hofburg is the official residence of the President of Austria and is extremely popular with tourists.

2. The Ringstrasse is an extremely wide avenue, which embraces the old city of Vienna. It was built in late 19th century and marked a rapid change in the city's appearance and urban landscape. Protective walls once surrounded the heart of Vienna, the walls were razed in 1857 and as a substitute a broad boulevard, the Ringstrasse, was built and lined with impressive buildings, fascinating monuments, and parks. Among the more important structures here are the town hall, the Burgtheater, the University, Parliament and the very important State Opera.

3. Hundertwasserhaus is a very popular apartment house situated in Vienna in the Landstraße district. Due to the design it is becoming a very popular spot to visit in Vienna and has now included in Austria's cultural heritage. Hundertwasserhaus was built in the years of 1983 and 1986 by architects Joseph Krawina and Peter Pelikan. It is extremely unique as it comprises of undulating floors, large trees growing from inside the rooms, roof with earth and grass. In total there are 52 apartments, private terraces, three communal terraces and 250 trees.

4. Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna dates back to the middle ages and is an absolutely magnificent place to visit. The Schönbrunn Palace and has been deemed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is a terrific example of a Baroque "princely residential ensemble. The property includes a number of attractions to admire including an incredibly elaborate palace, a beautiful park with fountains, monuments, pretty gardens and a Zoological Garden. There are also a vast number of so called 'outbuildings' which serviced the palace, they are quite large as they held the Schönbrunn's one-thousand workers.

5. The sisi museum is situated in Vienna and is an absolutely beautiful museum that displays artwork relating to the history of one of Austria's well-known empresses - Empress Elisabeth (1837-1898), often referred to as 'Sisi'. The museum is comprised of six rooms, which contain personal belongings including her lovely gowns and jewelry. The museum also exhibits elaborate portraits of the empress and is very impressive display. Vienna is a very pleasant place to visit and there are numerous other attractions to visit. They can be easily visited by using Vienna's extensive transportation network.
